The MYP Coordinator is a key member of the academic leadership team responsible for the implementation, development, and day-to-day management of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP). The MYP Coordinator ensures the integrity of the IB framework is upheld across the school while working closely with teachers, students, and the wider school community to maintain high standards in curriculum delivery, assessment, and holistic student development.

Key Responsibilities:

Programme Leadership & Management:

Lead the effective implementation and ongoing development of the IB MYP in alignment with IB standards and practices.

Organise and lead MYP curriculum review cycles and ensure vertical and horizontal articulation across subjects and grade levels.

Coordinate the MYP community project and support staff in the development of interdisciplinary units (IDUs).

Support subject group leaders and teachers with the development of units of inquiry and assessment criteria.

Curriculum & Assessment:

Guide faculty in planning, teaching, and assessing through the MYP framework, ensuring consistency in unit planning and learning outcomes.

Ensure proper documentation, storage, and communication of curriculum materials, assessments, and student data.

Monitor student performance and progress through MYP assessment practices and reporting.

Provide training and support on criterion-related assessment, ATL (Approaches to Learning), and global contexts.

Professional Development & Support:

Organise and lead professional development sessions on MYP philosophy, curriculum planning, and assessment.

Promote a shared understanding of the IB mission and learner profile throughout the school community.

Liaise with other IB Coordinators (PYP/DP/CP) to ensure continuity across the IB continuum.

Communication & Community Engagement:

Maintain clear and regular communication with staff, students, and parents regarding the MYP.

Host information sessions, workshops, and community engagement events to promote understanding of the MYP framework.

Collaborate with the leadership team to align school vision and values with the IB philosophy.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant field

Teaching certification and at least 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB World School.

In-depth knowledge of the IB MYP framework and experience in curriculum leadership.

Strong understanding of IB philosophy, pedagogy, and international-mindedness.

Experience in school accreditation processes (IB Evaluation, CIS, NEASC, etc.) is an asset.
